As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread all over the world, those in the fashion community are coming together to provide aid to their communities. New York City-based jewelry designer Ana Khouri created a one-of-a-kind sapphire version of her signature Mirian ring. The inspiration behind the sapphire was inspired by “many cultures [where] blue is associated with hope, peace, and protection.”

Khouri auctioned the ring off to an anonymous buyer for $7,074 and donated 100% of the proceeds to Doctors Without Borders—a nongovernmental organization that puts volunteers on the front lines of the world’s wars, disease outbreaks, and natural disasters.

“We all should help in times like these,” Khouri said. “With the world uniting, we can overcome this together. We need to choose love over fear. We are all in this together and need to lean on each other more than ever before.”

Khouri is also donating 100% of the proceeds to “A Common Thread” from the sale of her diamond Mirian earrings.
