Sparkling Style on the Fall 2015 & Winter 2016 Runways
by Claire Foster
The recent Fall 2015/Winter 2016 runways highlighted the key trends set to inspire fine, diamond jewelry collections. Get a heads up on our must-haves for the season; where rich, antique jewels, bold brooches, and new statement pieces become the sparkling accessories to fall looks!
Antique jewelry proved to be a huge inspiration for designers on the runways. The Georgian, Victorian and Art Deco periods were referenced through classic stone settings and traditional heirloom items. Raid the family jewels or invest in pear cut diamonds, super-sized stone drop earrings, and dress rings to channel the new antique trend.
Brooches Are Back
Prada lead the way for the brooch revival for fall, where ornate gemstone styles decorated lapels or became sparkling accents on evening looks. Forget old-lady connotations with these bold, new styles though; instead, opt for a high-low retro look with big statement brooches that mix synthetic plastics with diamonds, or pin onto jackets and coats in dazzling clusters to mix in a touch of punkish attitude.
Statement Drop Earrings
Earrings continue to drive jewelry trends, and with this season’s Statement Drops it will be hard to miss them! Oversized chandelier styles in classic bijoux are perfect for formal occasions. To add just enough edginess to your everyday go-to ensembles, look to modernist art-inspired single earrings, and opulent ear cuffs.
The Glamorous Choker
Get ready to replace the statement necklace with the more daring and glamorous choker. These bejeweled neckpieces sit higher and closer to the neck, evoking a vampish elegance. Experimenting with large stone and chunky beaded styles creates a high-end air, or take a more casual approach by layering with chains and bejeweled pendants.
The Opulent Cuff
Moving down to the wrist, we’ve seen the cuff grow in popularity as of late. For fall, designers showed a new range of fine-fashion styles adorned with diamonds and precious gems. Whether encrusted with pavé diamonds or using a giant stone as the centerpiece, these cuffs make opulence look effortless.
